Innovative products that are based on a scalable and sustainable competitive edge are the lifeblood of business. Speed to market and low cost producer strategies have their place but generally “me too” products or cheap imitations by definition come and go. That’s why the new product development process needs appropriate stewardship and guidance and a strong basis in sound research. From large corporations to small and startup businesses, from consumer goods, to technology, to manufacturing to retail- the process is the same and should proceed along the line outlined above. There are no short cuts.
